Neilson Cattle Company’s handling facilities have been set up for cow calf operations. These aerial images help show the hard work and planning gone into the organizing the farm yard.
A two-story barn stands in the center of the yard; the cement lower floor is divided into stalls while the upper hay mow has a large access door at either end. Beside the barn are two large feeding pens with steel panel construction. Each pen has a large wooden windbreak, and a watering system is located along the common fence.
Four small pens all lead into a semi-circle handling chute near the barn. These pens can also feed into an elevated ramp for safely loading double-deck commercial livestock trailers. Yard lighting covers the barn and facilities, increasing visibility during morning or evening activities.
The house is located on a mature yard site; the large developed trees and orchard effectively separate the house yard from the farm yard. The garden welcomes visitors as they enter the yard. Tile drained soil means enhanced growing conditions in the garden, and a separate six room root cellar provides the perfect storage solution for a plentiful harvest of vegetables. Access to the farm is via a surface treated road, which means smooth travels and no dust.
